# Apply invoice discounts

> Invoicing is the process of issuing a bill to a customer for goods or services that have been provided.

Easily add one-off invoice discounts using the invoice editor to provide customers a fixed amount off their bill.

<Note>
  **Discounts and partial billing periods**: When applying discounts to invoices with prorated charges, percentage and fixed discounts behave differently.

  **Example**: For a £500 monthly charge prorated to 15 days (£500 \* 15/30 = £250):

  * A 10% discount applies to the prorated amount: £250 \* 10% = £25 off
  * A £100 fixed discount applies in full: £100 off (regardless of proration)
